Symptoms of Brain Compression
Symptoms include drowsiness, breathing difficulties, weak pulse, paralysis in one side of the body and unconsciousness. Emergency medical treatment is needed if a person shows signs of brain compression.
Treatment of Brain Compression
Involves admittance to hospital and a surgical operation (trepanning or trephining of the skull- removal of an area of bone) so that the cause of the compression can be dealt with.
Cause of Brain Compression
There are various reasons why compression of the brain occurs. These include injury and rupture of a blood vessel producing a clot, tumor and a collection of pus or blood from an infection. As with brain abscess, preventative measures include seeking prompt medical attention for any injury, wound or trauma involving the head and skull.
