What is glossitis?
Glossitis is an chronic inflammation or the irritation of the toung. Tongue Infection and Tongue Inflammation is the alternate name of glossities. Treatment of this disease should done according to the causes of this disease,
Causes of glossitis
This disease may occure as a disease itself or it may occur as a symptoms of another disease. Glossitis occurs due to inflammaton of the toung and it cause to the symptoms like swell and change color. Following are some of the reasons which are responsible for the glossitis-
- Bacterial and viral infections can be a local cause of glossitis.
- Trauma or mechanical irritation from burns, teeth, and dental appliances
- toothpaste, mouthwash, or other materials put in the mouth
- nutritional causes, skin diseases, and systemic infections
- Exposure to irritants such as tobacco, alcohol, hot foods, or spices
- fitting dentures, poor oral hygiene habits, biting of the tongue
- Variation with the menstrual cycle suggests hormonal factors
