Connective tissue naevi

Connective tissue naevi are rare skin lesions that occur when the lower most layers of the skin do not develop correctly or the elements of these layers occur in the wrong proportion.

Causes of Connective tissue naevi

Connective tissue naevi are thought to be due to genetic defects in the skin cells.

Differential Diagnosis of Connective tissue naevi

  • tuberous sclerosis,
  • chronic myelocytic leukaemia,
  • syphilis and
  • encephalocraniocutaneous lipomatosis

Treatment of Connective tissue naevi

Connective tissue naevi that do not occur with other diseases not require any treatment. Patients with naevi should undergo full examination to rule out any associated conditions.
