) Description
Very rare disorder of hand and head development.
Apert Syndrome Cause
Familial. Premature fusion of the bones that make up the skull and abnormal development of the fingers.
Apert Syndrome Symptom
Head rises to a point, eyes protrude, the cheeks are sunken and two or more fingers are fused together.
Investigation
None diagnostic.
Apert Syndrome Treatment
Surgery to separate fingers and open up the suture lines between the skull bones.
Complications
Mental retardation.
Prognosis of Apert Syndrome
No cure.
