Rare disorder of skin and nerves resulting in an inability to repair damage to the skin, brain and other tissues.
Xeroderma Pigmentosa Cause
Familial (inherited). Sun exposure causes skin damage.
Xeroderma Pigmentosa Symptom
Skin sores, inflammation and abnormal pigmentation. Children have small heads, mental deterioration, poor coordination (ataxia), muscle spasms (spasticity), abnormal movements of the limbs (athetosis) and underdeveloped testes or ovaries. Other abnormalities may include deafness, seizures, abnormal sensations and abnormal heart nerves.

No specific diagnostic test.

Avoid sun. Otherwise none available.
Complications
High incidence of cancer.
Prognosis of Xeroderma Pigmentosa
Poor.
